Every year it’s the same New Year’s resolution isn’t it? ‘This year I’m going to get fit’; the words we mutter to ourselves as the clock strikes twelve and by the end of the first week in January, we’ve splurged on fancy new running shoes, a gym membership and inundated our friends’ timelines with ‘new year, new me’ statuses.

1. Get your kit sorted

With Christmas over, many gyms will have amazing New Year offers to new customers. Take advantage of these offers if you can as they won’t be around forever! It sometimes helps making a financial commitment such as paying six months or a year up front so that you have more incentive to get going and in some cases pay less overall, too.

If you already have a gym membership and need an incentive to use your membership in the New Year, try booking into a new class or programme to spur you on. It might also be worth shopping around to see if any other gyms in your local area are offering better packages than what you’re already signed up to.
